A Memorandum of Understanding between the International Relations Committee of the Union of Iranian Associations for Mathematical Sciences and the Scientific Foundation of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO)

A cooperation MOU was signed between the International Relations Committee of the Union of Iranian Associations for Mathematical Sciences and the Scientific Foundation of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO). This memorandum was signed on the occasion of the International Year of Basic Sciences for Sustainable Development during a ceremony with the presence of Professor Manzoor Hossein Soomro (founder and senior advisor of Eco Scientific Foundation and former president of this organization) and Dr. Mohsen Mohammadzadeh Doroudi, the head of the Union of Iranian Associations for Mathematical Sciences. The event was held on September 2, 2022, in Maryam Mirzakhani Hall of Isfahan Mathematics House.

From Isfahan University of Technology, Dr. Ali Rejali (faculty member of the Department of Mathematics and founder of Isfahan Mathematics House), Dr. Mohammad Javad Omidi (faculty member of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and director of the Iris Regional Center), Dr. Nasrollah Mahboubi Sofiani (faculty member of the Department of Natural Resources), and Dr. Peyman Mosaddegh (academic faculty member of the Department of Mechanical Engineering & Director of the International Scientific Cooperation Center) attended this ceremony.

The purpose of attending this meeting was to support Isfahan University of Technology as a member of the country's scientific community in order to promote basic mathematical sciences among the students of ECO countries. With the approach that mathematics is the basis of all engineering sciences, this university is taking steps to fulfill its social duty in expanding and supporting the mathematical sciences.

It should be noted that on the sidelines of this meeting, the book "The Text Book of Plant Nematology" written by Professor Manzoor Hussein Soomro and two of his colleagues, and published by the Pakistan Society of Nematologists (PSN) in March 2022, was gifted to Isfahan University of Technology.
