A Symposium on International Scientific Cooperation – MSRT and Higher Education Institutions

A symposium of international scientific cooperation, which was held virtually in the presence of the Minister of Science and the presidents of universities and vice-presidents and international directors of 150 higher education institutions entitled "Scientific Diplomacy in 2021-2022, with Emphasis on New Horizons; New Movements" was held on September 26, 2021. In this meeting, the Minister of Science, Research and Technology, expressed congratulations on the new academic year and mentioned that 30% of the country's scientific output is associated with the participation of international sections. He said that scientific authority is realized along with scientific diplomacy and leads to synergy. He also stressed that to help scientific diplomacy, we must have written programs for political, cultural, and social diplomacy.

The head of the Center for International Scientific Cooperation of the Ministry of Science said that when we look at the set of developments from the perspective of the Ministry of Science's overall international strategy, we see new horizons in the future of international interactions that require new moves based on experiences gained from internationalization.

Referring to the beginning of the new academic year, Dr. Hossein Salar Amoli said: "According to the plans of the Minister of Science, the symposium of international deputies is held to review, explain and formulate cooperation policies in four main areas of bilateral and multilateral international cooperation, specialized international scientific organizations, and science and technology diplomacy based on Persian language development”. He pointed to the success of the national working groups for international scientific cooperation and added: "Another focus of this meeting is to examine the role and position of the working groups in creating, developing and strengthening cooperation, and on the subject of international scientific cooperation, the importance of the development of Persian language and literature is emphasized and professors and experts in this field pay attention to the developments in this part of international interactions."

The meeting was attended by Prof. Dr. Seyed Mehdi Abtahi, President of Isfahan University of Technology, Professor. Mohammad Javad Omidi, Acting President and Director of the IUT International Scientific Cooperation Center, and Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Tabrizchi, s faculty member of IUT. They also spoke about the activities of the Swiss desk of Isfahan University of Technology.
