In the Times Higher Education (THE)-Best Universities in Asia ranking, Isfahan University of Technology is ranked 6th among the country's industrial universities, 11th among Iranian universities (comprehensive, industrial, and medical sciences), and 116th among all the top Asian universities.

THE is one of the most authoritative international systems in the field of evaluation and ranking of the world's universities. This organization has been annually publishing the list of the top universities in the world since 2004 and the list of the top Asian universities since 2013. In the Asia University Rankings in 2021, data from 551 universities from 30 Asian countries were evaluated, and according to the list published for the second consecutive year, the University of Tsinghua and Peking University in China and the National University of Singapore ranked first to third, respectively.

The evaluation of Asian universities, like the evaluation of the world universities, is based on 13 indicators in the form of 5 criteria and with weight correction. These criteria are:

Education with a weight of 25% (educational credit (10%), ratio of professor to student (4.5%), ratio of doctoral students to undergraduate students (2.25%), ratio of faculty members holding Ph.D. to the total (6%), and income (2.25%)). Research with a weight of 30% (research credit (15%), income from research (7.5%), Citation with a weight of 30% (research impact, average number of citations for articles indexed in Scopus database from 2015 to 2020). International reputation with a weight of 7.5% (ratio of international to domestic students (2.5%), the ratio of international to domestic faculty members (2 5.%), and the articles published jointly with international co-authors (2.5%). Income from industry weighing 7.5% (knowledge transfer, research income from industry for per faculty member).

Isfahan University of Technology was ranked 130 among the top Asian universities in the Times 2020 Asian Universities Rankings, which according to the results of this year's ranking, the university's position is improved significantly.
