Abstract |
Mobility and physical activities of senior citizens play an important role in wellbeing and quality of life of senior citizens. The COVID-19 Coronavirus Pandemic has lowered physical activities and mobility of senior citizens; thus implementation of social assistance programs seems to be imperative in order to reduce or eliminate isolation of senior citizens. The objective of this research is to study and identify factors affecting physical activities and mobility of senior citizens during and post Corona pandemic. This will in turn help develop solutions assisting this vulnerable segment of population to revive its pre-pandemic physician activities. This study considers mobility as the ability to independently and freely move between two points. Also, physical activity is measured in terms of the weekly amount of time spent in walking or biking. Senior citizens in the 15 administrative divisions of Isfahan are interviewed to understand how their travel behavior and physical activities have changed during the pandemic. An initial assessment of survey results indicates biking time has increased while the citizens walk less. In the next step, maps showing biking and walking infrastructure facilities will be utilized to assess factors impacting physical activities and mobility in each urban division. |
