IUT expands Internatinal & scientific collaboration among Asia

A high-ranked delegation from Xiamen University, China, headed by the President, Prof. Zhu Chongshi visited IUT on Wednesday, Oct. 7th, 2015. They were warmly welcomed by the IUT President, Vice-President for Research and Technology and the Director of International & Scientific Cooperation Office in an official meeting at the IUT administrating building. In this meeting both parties get more familiar with their potentials and extend their wish to establish and expand the collaboration between. "Although the relations between Iranian and Chinese governments are relatively new in the economic and political aspects, but trade and diplomatic relations between both nations goes back at least to 200 BC. Throughout history, China and Iran have developed a friendly economic and strategic partnership. Therefore, I really wish to expand our relationship to the scientific aspects as well", President Modarres Hashemi declared. Professor Zhu also pointed the noticeable scientific position of IUT among the Iranian and Asian Universities. "The main goal of this visit is to pave the road to establish and expand the executive scientific cooperation between IUT and Xiamen University", he replied.

Xiamen University is one of the oldest and biggest Universities in China. It has 27 schools containing 76 departments and 10 research institutes. This University with more than 2,678 full time faculty and professional researchers, is the home of more than 40.000 students in both graduate and undergraduate levels. Xiamen University has inter-university cooperative ties with over 270 institutions of higher education at home and abroad.

Xiamen University has a constructed area of 1.4 million square meters and its libraries hold 4.48 million volumes (including 39,204 gigabytes electronic volumes). The scope and level of its high-speed information network on campus is rated at the top of all universities in China and has become the one of the main injunctions of CERNET2. Xiamen University is now making great strides towards its goal of "building a high-level university well-known both at home and abroad."

At the end of this session both parties has signed a general MOU in the mutual fields of interest, including exchange of students and faculty, exchange of information, presenting joint workshops and seminars. Some mementos has been traded between both presidents in the sign of mutual understanding.
