A new chapter of scientific and technological collaboration between the Iranian National Observatory and IUT is underway with the implementation of joint research projects.

With the launch of the 3/4-meter telescope of the Iranian National Observatory and the registration of its first light, the last step in the consolidation of telescope subsystems and the completion of Iran's largest scientific project has been taken after more than two decades of relentless effort.

IUT, in addition to its leading scientific position among the other universities in the country and also in the region, is geographically located only 137 kilometers away from the Iranian National Observatory, making it an excellent opportunity for scientific and technological collaborations between the two institutions in carrying out joint research projects and increasing their research and technological capabilities.

In order to create greater coordination between the two institutions and introduce the Iranian National Telescope, a conference was held by the IUT Department of Physics, to introduce and discuss the possibilities for collaboration with the Iranian National Observatory on Tuesday, May 23, 2023.

The dean of the IUT Department of Physics, emphasized the importance of this collaboration, stating that it will create important technical and engineering processes and provide a platform for cooperation with relevant departments at IUT.

Dr. Kalantari also highlighted the international scientific activities of the Department of Physics and suggested creating educational opportunities, scientific visits, defining postgraduate theses, and collaborating with professors in related fields at the National Observatory. Other areas of joint collaboration include accepting two joint postdoctoral students between the Iranian National Observatory and Isfahan University of Technology.

Overall, this collaboration between the Iranian National Observatory and IUT is expected to enhance their scientific and technological capabilities and contribute to the advancement of astronomy and astrophysics in Iran and beyond.
