Following the recent extensive mutual technical and educational collaborations between Isfahan University of Technology and universities in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, Isfahan University of Technology and University of Sulaimani have successfully established a joint engineering faculty at the University of Sulaimani.

An opening ceremony was held at the University of Sulaimani on 29 August 2016, attended by highly-ranked officials of both universities and Mr. Masoudian the consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Sulaimani and the cultural and scientific attaches. A delegation from Isfahan University of Technology including: Prof. Mahboobi Soofiani, the director of International and Scientific Cooperation office of IUT, Prof. Saeidi, the head of the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Prof. Moheb, the head of the department of Chemical Engineering and Prof. Salimpour, the deputy of Graduate Affairs of the Department of Mechanical Engineering accompanied the president of IUT, Prof. Mahmoud Modarres Hashemi on this trip.

The Joint Faculty of Engineering will effectively start its wide range of academic activities in the upcoming semester, starting with the enrolment of students in the fields of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Chemical Engineering at bachelor level.At this official meetings, both parties announce their willingness to extend this program to the MSc and PhD level in the near future.
